Davis, Jack W., 81, of Pine Grove, WV died Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Valley Hospice Liza's Place in Wheeling, WV.
Jack was born October 17, 1929, in Pine Grove, WV the son of the late Virgil and Blanche Fisher Davis.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served as a cook. After his service in the Air Force he continued his love of cooking, trying new recipes, baking and grilling. He spent many hours doing bodywork and painting automobiles, and remodeling his home. He also enjoyed working in his garden, planting something a little different each year. When he wasn't working, Jack enjoyed hunting and fishing, including a special annual trip to the mountains; and he liked playing cards. Jack always followed WVU basketball and football, and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Before his retirements from Ormet, he had worked at Hope Gas, Beckett's Garage and Bee Electric.
Jack was a member of the Pine Grove Church of Christ. He was also a member of the Pine Grove American Legion Benton Lowe Post No. 81 and the Pine Grove Sportsman’s Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lewis and Claude Davis; two sisters, Alma Shuman and Irene Davis and a granddaughter, Charlotte Darnae Haught.
Surviving are son, Tim Davis of South Riding, VA; daughter, Linda (Bill) Barth of New Martinsville; three sisters, Anna Lea Rose of St. Clairsville, OH, Wanda Eddy of West Liberty, WV and Shirley Shockey of Winchester, VA; three grandchildren, Valerie (Jim) Belcher, Laure (Scott) Rodgers and Holly Barth; six great grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at the Williams Funeral Home, 226 N SR 20, Pine Grove, WV where funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 1, 2010 with Greg Morris officiating.
Interment in Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Hastings, WV.
The Honor Guard of Sistersville, Paden City and New Martinsville will conduct full military graveside rites.
