Obituary for Ray Junior "JR" Smith
Ray “Junior” Smith, 78, of Smithfield, WV passed peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at his home.
Junior was born March 2, 1944 in Smithfield, WV son of the late Bronson and Mary (Weekley) Smith.
He was a retired driller for the oil and gas industry, loved hunting, fishing, mowing grass and watching Westerns – especially Gun Smoke.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gracie Smith; two brothers, Bill Smith and Clifford Smith and three sisters, Maxine Dunlap, Irene Hayhurst and Wilma Coen.
Surviving are his son, Eric Smith of Smithfield, WV; two brothers, Joe Smith of Smithfield and Donald Smith of New Freeport, PA; sister, Karen Smith of Canton, OH and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends received 5-8 p.m., Thursday, July 14, 2022 at the Williams Funeral Home, 12750 Shortline Hwy, Pine Grove where services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, July 15, 2022 with burial to follow in the Knights of Pythias Cemetery.
