Obituary for Donald Lee "Don" Cole
Donald “Don” L. Cole, 91, of Hundred, WV, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2022.
He was born on June 9, 1930 in Kodol, WV son of the late Henry and Oakie (Utt) Cole.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Mildred L. Cole who was the love of his life, his two sisters, Lorine Meryl Cole and Beatrice Teagarden and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He is survived by his children: Pam (Mike) Bennett of Ridgeley, WV; Gary Cole of Pineville, WV; Lisa (Doug) Stephens of Fairmont, WV; grandchildren: Jonathan (Ashley) Bennett of Martinsburg, WV; Amanda Bennett of Ridgeley, WV; Sophie Stephens of Fairmont, WV and great-granddaughter Anabelle Bennett of Martinsburg, WV. He is also survived by a brother, Burhl Cole of Fairmont, WV and a sister Wanda Willey of Wileyville, WV. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Norman Williams of Wileyville, WV, a sister-in-law, Lucille Jolliff of Glenville, WV, and numerous nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
Donald was an honorably discharged member of the U.S. Army having served on the front lines during the Korean Conflict, retired equipment operator for the WV Department of Highways and was a New Testament Christian who worshipped with the Hundred Church of Christ. He and Mildred traveled the country during their retirement years having seen forty-seven of the fifty states. He was known for helping those in need and always showing others his “old Indian tricks” of making work easier. The family would like to thank the caregivers who assisted with Donald’s care.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family, with burial in Cunningham Memorial Gardens in Burton, WV.
In lieu of flowers and food, memorial contributions may be made, in Donald’s name, to either the Hundred Fire Dept., PO Box 451, Hundred, WV 26575 or Zachary Taylor Trust (a burial fund that assist with funerals of minor children) 1224 South Bridge Street New Martinsville, WV 26155.
