Obituary for Mary Ruth Huggins (Goddard)

Mary Ruth Goddard Huggins, 88, of Wileyville, WV, beloved wife, mother,
and Granny; went to be with the Lord February 11, 2017, at her home
surrounded by her family.

Mary was born October 12, 1928 at Lowman Ridge, Wetzel County, WV.
She was the seventh child and fourth daughter of the late Clarence and
Jennie Belle Starkey Goddard.

Mary became a born again Christian October 12, 1958 and was baptized
along with her mother at the Christian Church in Pine Grove, WV. After
moving to Wileyville, she then attended the Church of Christ until her illness.
A lifelong democrat having served 20 years on the Wetzel County Democrat
Executive Committee. A member of the Red Hat Society, the Extension
Homemakers Club for 50 years. The Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Post
120 of Hundred, WV. She was Post Master at Kodol for a short time. Chair
person of the American Red Cross in Wetzel County for 10 years. She sold
Home Interior for 13 years. Mary was an avid reader, keeping herself up to
date on current affairs.

She married Earl L. Huggins on November 20, 1950 in Lexington, KY.
Mary and Earl lived most of their lives on the farm at Kodol in Wetzel County,
raising their daughter Susie and son Tom. The home in Kodol was completely
destroyed by a fire in 1989 while they were both in Wheeling seeing Dr. Noble.
It was at that time they moved to Wileyville.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Earl on August 14, 2015.
She was also preceded in death by her siblings John, Jessie, Boyd, Alice
Evie, Ruby and Ken. She is survived by her two children, Susie and Denny
Longwell of New Martinsville, WV and Tom and Crystal Huggins of
Wileyville, WV; five grandchildren, Angela Snider and Lee Bonar, Jonathan
Snider, Sierra and Billy Lemley, Myra and Nathaniel Martin, Jennifer and
Bobby Weatherholt; 10 great-grandchildren, Isaac, Isabella, and Imary
Snider, Ruthie and Dustin Lemley, Trevor, Callie and Cameron Martin and
Riley and Sydney Weatherholt; one brother William Floyd Goddard of
Sebring, Florida, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Mary’s request there will be no services.

Private interment at the convenience of the family in the Knights of Pythias
Cemetery in Hastings, WV.
