Obituary for Ruby J Johnston

Johnston, Ruby J. Goddard, 95, of New Martinsville, WV formerly of Lexington, KY died Sunday, June 09, 2013 surrounded by her family.

Ruby was born January 25, 1918 in Jacksonburg, WV daughter of the late James Clarence and Jennie Starkey Goddard.

She was a retired secretary for the Lexington School System, a U.S. Veteran serving in World War II in the WAC program and a member of the New Martinsville United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter S. “John” Johnston; three sisters, Alice Henthorn, Jessie Cain and Eva Byard and two brothers, Boyd and John Goddard.

Surviving are two brothers, Floyd Goddard of Sebring, FL and Kenneth Goddard of Jacksonburg, WV; sister, Mary (Earl) Huggins of Wileyville, WV and several nieces and nephews.

Friends received 1 – 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at the Williams Funeral Home, 226 N SR 20, Pine Grove, WV where service will begin at 2 p.m. with Denny Longwell officiating.

Interment in Knights of Pythias Cemetery near Hastings, WV.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made, in Ruby’s name, to Journey Hospice, 314 S Wells St., Sistersville, WV 26175 or Wounded Warrior Project, 1120 G Street NW Suite 700, Washington, DC 20005.
