Obituary for Richard C. "Dick" Ferrell

Richard C. “Dick” Ferrell, 70, of Folsom WV and formerly of Salem, WV, died Sunday, January 08, 2017 at his home.

Dick was born October 11, 1946 in Clarksburg, WV, son of the late Carl Ferrell and Helen (Beverlin) Taylor.
He was the co-owner and operator of D & S Auto Body Shop as well as several other businesses, a U.S. Army Service Veteran serving in Vietnam receiving a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, Good Conduct Medal, and Sharpshooter Badge. Dick was a former member of the Pine Grove American Legion, Mannington Moose Lodge and Salem VFW and Protestant by faith. In his free time, he loved playing cards with family and friends and attending car shows.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father Claude Taylor; sister, Sandra (Junior) Ash; brothers, Gary “Bum” Ferrell, Rodney Taylor, and James “Jim Bo” Taylor.

Surviving are his wife of thirty four years, Helen (Adams) Ferrell; three sons, Richard “Ritchie” Ferrell of Salem, WV, James A (April) Smallwood, and Jay F. (Ashley) Smallwood of Folsom, WV; daughter, Teresa (Jack) Haught of Moundsville, WV; two brothers, Dave (Debbie) Ferrell of West Union, WV and Eddy Taylor of Bridgeport, WV; sisters, Debbie (Jim)Hardin of Pomfret, MD, Carla Ferrell and Barbara (Ferrell) Wilkinson both of Wilsonburg, WV; fourteen grandchildren; seven and soon to be eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial dinner will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the Folsom Volunteer Fire Dept.

Private Interment in National Cemetery in Grafton, WV.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to charity of donor's choice.
