Robert “Gene” E. Wayne, 85, of New Martinsville, WV formerly of Pine Grove, WV passed away Friday, October 02, 2015 at Bishop Joseph H. Hodges Continuous Care Center in Wheeling, WV.

“Gene” was born November 24, 1929 in Hastings, WV son of the late Okey Carl and Mildred Louise (Wilson) Wayne.

He was a retired welder for the former Ormet, prior to that he worked for Hope Gas, member of Pine Grove Sportsman Club, former member of the Sistersville Elks, loved woodworking, hunting and fishing and member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Pine Grove.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Hoskins) Wayne.

Surviving are Ellen (Mark) Van Dyne of Middlebourne, WV, Laura Ash of Fairmont, WV and Robin (Jim) Browning of Westfield, NJ; sister, Evelyn Wildman of Paden City; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends received 4-7 p.m., Sunday, October 4, 2015 at the Williams Funeral Home, 12750 Shortline Hwy, Pine Grove, WV where service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, October 5, 2015.

Interment to follow in Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Hastings, WV.
