Edward “Ed” E. Martin, Jr., 78, of Reader, WV died Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Tidewell Hospice House in Arcadia, FL.
“Ed” was born August 17, 1937 in Reader, WV son of the late Edward E. and Georgia Carolina (Pegg) Martin, Sr.
He started working at his father’s furniture store – Martin’s Furniture Store, worked some at Ormet, then after moving to Florida he worked for Pratt Whitney Aircraft, in 1971 became the owner of Martin’s True Value, which for a short time had a branch in New Martinsville called Martin’s Power Equipment, served in the U.S. Army Reserves, a member of Wetzel Lodge No. 39 A.F. & A.M. and the Scottish Rite Valley of Wheeling where he was a thirty second degree Mason, 1955 graduate of Pine Grove High School, earned an Associates degree West Palm Beach Junior College, member of Shortline Lion’s Club, loved following his grandchildren in sports and attending the WVSSAC playoff games in Charleston, researching genealogy and a Protestant by faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Michael Martin.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-nine years, Violet Lorraine (Snodgrass) Martin of Reader, WV; two sons, Larry Martin of Palm Springs, CA and Jerry (Joyce) Martin of Reader, WV; daughter, Rhonda (Bobby) Ueltschy of Pine Grove, WV; seven grandchildren, Nathaniel (Myra) Martin, Casey (Randy) Street, Jared (Anne) Martin, Elizabeth (Jason) Williamson, Jonathan Martin, Coleman Ueltschy and Garrett Ueltschy; nine great grandchildren, Hayley, Trevor, Kendall, Lila, Conner, Shane, Jacob, Callie and Cameron; brother, Robert (Bonnie) Martin of Lindon, UT; sister-in-law, Renee Martin of Pittsburgh, PA; friend and store manager, Rickie E. Barr of Pine Grove, WV and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
At Ed’s request there will be no service.
Interment in Northview Cemetery in New Martinsville, WV at the convenience of the family.
